It’s hard for me to believe that in less than a week, T, and I will be landing New Delhi, India. For me, the magnitude of our upcoming adventure has yet to set in. I traveled all my life, but have never been to Asia or a BRICS country. I’m excited, I’m nervous, I’m overwhelmed, and I’m in a state of disbelief. India is not a country I imagined myself visiting, at least not anytime in my near future.
Sarandipidiously, the voyage to India, fell into place. The decision made to travel half way around the world was catalyzed by a wedding invitation to my friend and former classmate’s wedding. Rumour has it, India weddings are an affair not to miss.
Seizing the opportunity to celebrate a friend, and experience a new culture T and I somewhat impulsively booked our flights across the Atlantic and Indian Oceans.
Butterflies, nerves, and shrills of excitement are currently flooding my body, within a week I will be somewhere completely foreign to me. India will be a trip of a life time. The closer I get to my boarding call, the more real the journey is beginning to feel.
As India is a whole new world to me, T and I, have decided to try and see as much of the country as we can. Our three-week adventure will have us traveling clear across the country. By plane, train, and automobile.
Our journey will take us from the old (and new) city of New Delhi to the spiritual capital of Varanasi, to the Taj Mahal in Agra, to the traditions of Jaipur, the business incubator of Chura, the beaches of Goa, the celebrations of Nagpur, and the purity of the Ganges. During our 21 day excursion, we will see as much of the country as we possibly can.
Crafting our India Itinerary was something we would not have been able to do with out the assistance of Nitin at Unwind India, and the team at Atali Ganga. Their local expertise has enriched our itinerary. While I have no clue what to expect, I’ve ready to welcome India and the wonders it presents.
